  18. If you install Microsoft Bookshelf93 in Windows NT, only the User who
  19. installed the application will be able to run the program, even if
  20. common program groups are used.
  21.  
  22. If you attempt to start Bookshelf93 from another user account, the
  23. following error message appears:
  24.  
  25.    Cannot find Viewer file. Make sure the correct disk and
  26.    directory are specified.
  27.  
  28. If you attempt to start Bookshelf93 logged in as another User from the
  29. Microsoft Word for Windows tool bar icon, the following error message
  30. appears:
  31.  
  32.    Word could not find a necessary Bookshelf file. Make sure the
  33.    Word & Bookshelf disc is in the CD-ROM drive. If necessary,
  34.    reinstall Word & Bookshelf.
  35.  
  36. CAUSE
  37. =====
  38.  
  39. When Bookshelf93 is installed, it creates a key called Files under the
  40. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Viewer key in the Registry. This
  41. key contains references to the CD-ROM drive and libraries used by
  42. Bookshelf93. This key is only created for the current user.
  43.  
  44. RESOLUTION
  45. ==========
  46.  
  47. To run Bookshelf93 from Program Manager, you need to edit the
  48. properties for each Bookshelf93 icon to include the full path to
  49. Bookshelf93 program files. To do so, use the following procedure:
  50.  
  51. 1. Highlight the Bookshelf93 icon in Program Manager.
  52.  
  53. 2. Choose Properties from the File menu.
  54.  
  55. 3. Change the command line to reflect the path to the Bookshelf
  56.    program files. For example, if it reads
  57.  
  58.       c:\winnt\system\mviewer2.exe books93.mvb
  59.    
  60.    change it to:
  61.  
  62.       c:\winnt\system\mviewer2.exe e:\books\books93.mvb
  63.  
  64. 4. Choose OK to save the changes to the icon.
  65.  
  66. 5. Repeat steps 1-4 for each icon that Bookshelf93 created.
  67.  
  68. To setup Bookshelf93 to run from Program Manager and from the Word
  69. for Windows tool bar, use the following procedure:
  70.  
  71.  1. Start Resgistry Editor (REGEDT32.EXE).
  72.  
  73.     WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious,
  74.     system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows
  75.     NT to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems
  76.     resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use
  77.     this tool at your own risk.
  78.  
  79.  2. Go to the following key:
  80.  
  81.     HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Viewer\Files
  82.  
  83.  3. With the Files key highlighted, choose Save Key from the Registry
  84.     menu.
  85.  
  86.  4. Type a file name (such as FILES.SAV).
  87.  
  88.  5. Choose OK.
  89.  
  90.  6. Go to the following key:
  91.  
  92.     HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Viewer
  93.  
  94.  7. Choose Add Key from the Edit menu.
  95.  
  96.  8. For the Key Name, type Files.
  97.  
  98.  9. Leave the Class blank and choose OK.
  99.  
  100. 10. Highlight the new Files key.
  101.  
  102. 11. Choose Restore from the Registry menu.
  103.  
  104. 12. Select the name you used in step 4.
  105.  
  106. 13. Exit Registry Editor.
  107.  
  108. 14. Start User Manager from the Administrative Tools group in Program
  109.     Manager.
  110.  
  111. 15. Create a new user.
  112.  
  113. The new user you just created and all further users you create will be
  114. able to access Bookshelf93. User accounts that already were set up
  115. before you performed this procedure will need to be recreated to
  116. access Bookshelf93.
